Danz’s installation at the 16th Istanbul Biennial comprises of 2,455 bricks – replicas of those found in the Haliç shipyards in Istanbul – each one imprinted with images using models of human organs and the body itself. The bricks form a glyph-like system based on the body’s fossilization into architectural structures, emphasizing the role of human labour in our environment.

Other elements within the installation include multiple figurative sculptures embodying processes of formation, as well as an oversized measuring device referencing ancient observatories and cartographic tools. The works draw on vestigial knowledge systems in order to build a projective understanding of the human form and its future.
