Mariechen Danz wins the GASAG Art Prize 2024

Mariechen Danz (* 1980 in Dublin, Ireland) has been awarded the GASAG Art Prize 2024. The award initiated by GASAG has been organised together with the Berlinische Galerie since 2010. Every two years, the partners honour an outstanding artistic contribution at the interface between art, science and technology.

In her artistic practice, the award winner deals with methods and models of human cognition. In expansive installations and performances, often in collaboration with other artists and musicians, Mariechen Danz combines classical scientific systems of appropriation and description of the world with subjective, alternative and magical ways of thinking. The starting point of her artistic research is the fragmented human body, whose organs, bodily functions and perceptual processes model new ways of accessing, exchanging and notating knowledge, truth and history.

The GASAG Art Prize entails a site-specific exhibition at the Berlinische Galerie and a publication. The exhibition will be held in conjunction with Berlin Art Week 2024.
