The moment that the sun dips below the horizon, our relationship with the world changes.

It’s neither night nor day, and then it’s as if time seems to be suspended. In this interval, indeterminacy rules over our perceptions. Indeed, there’s a saying in French that reminds us that we aren’t able to distinguish a dog from a wolf any more. This moment is the blue hour; when the relationship between the objects and forms which surround us becomes subjective, vague and transient.

L’Heure bleue offers a voyage through different artistic worlds, which, each in their own way, move us to private contemplation and, taken together, plunge us into a distorted perception of Nature. A nature captured, tracked, observed, and domesticated for an unreal time.

L’Heure bleue, that is to say, the passage from reality to fiction. For often when we can no longer really see, the time has come to tell (ourselves) stories.

With works by Dove Allouche, Hicham Berrada, Marguerite Bornhauser, Léa Dumayet, Anne-Charlotte Finel, Agata Ingarden, Célia Nkala, Anne Laure Sacriste, Jessica Warboys, Sophie Whettnall
