The Malkasten in Düsseldorf was founded in 1848 and is one of the oldest artist associations in Germany. Artists are regularly invited to exhibit their installations in the showcase of the foyer of the Hentrichhaus, one of the locations of the Kunstverein.

From August until December 2022 Thomas Grünfeld was invited to present his sculpture 'Misfit (Swan/Gnu) from 2001.
