A project is currently being created around Chemnitz as part of the European Capital of Culture 2025, which curator Alexander Ochs calls the largest sculpture trail in Europe. Around forty communities are linking up with art to form the so-called "Purple Path". The project is still in its early stages, but it is growing: Now the work "Color Floating" by artist Nevin Aladağ, who is a professor at the Dresden Art Academy, has been inaugurated in Austelpark in Zwönitz. There are even connections to the history of the Ore Mountains. In Zwönitz, there is still a night watchman with a lantern, Alexander Ochs explained to me. In addition, the place is a center of the stocking industry. "The artist has already stretched pantyhose of this company over luminous bodies years ago. We installed her work over a wonderfully wildly overgrown pond. There, Nevin Aladağ's work shines as an allusion to the hosiery industry and reflects the miners' longing for light, because mining existed before industrialization."
