Nevin Aladag b. 1972
Nevin Aladaǧ's macramé works are made of wire ropes and communication cables. The knotting technique with Eastern origins is used for hanging baskets, room dividers and wall hangings, forms an unusual unity with the unruly materials and at the same time refers to the global communication and networking that characterize our world and daily reality. In her macramé works, the artist combines traditional techniques with distinct social structures that contradict each other and raise questions about the boundaries between individual freedom and social control, private domain and public space.
