Karl Haendel | Blind Faith, Hope, Pandora’s Box, Messiahs
WENTRUP is pleased to present Blind Faith, Hope, Pandora’s Box, Messiahs, the gallery’s fourth solo exhibition with LA-based artist Karl Haendel, known for the photorealistic detail of his drawings, requiring great time and precision. In his most recent work, the artist offers alternative images of maleness, rejecting toxic masculinity and the so-called ‘alpha male’ culture centered in media narratives and on the political stage. Instead, he focuses on tenderness and vulnerability, reflected through the very act of drawing; the medium itself models the qualities of humility, openness and care that Haendel invites men to embrace.
Opening on Saturday, November 8th (3 – 7pm)
