Thomas Wachholz (b. 1984, Cologne, Germany, lives and works in Cologne, Germany) explores the meanings and associations found in the formal characteristics of everyday objects. He combines the visual style and ideological foundations of popular culture with geometrical abstraction.
Thomas Wachholz has had solo exhibitions at Kunstverein Heppenheim; Galerie Ruttkowski;68, Cologne; THK Gallery, Cape Town; Nino Mier Gallery, Los Angeles; Galerie Lange + Pult, Zürich; Ung5, Köln; Nymphius Projekte, Berlin, and RaebervonStenglin, Zurich. He has also participated in group exhibitions, including; Centre d’art contemporain Meymac; Eduardo Secci Contemporary, Florence; Kölnischer Kunstverein, Cologne; Krefelder Kunstverein; Marciano Art Foundation, Los Angeles; Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, Aachen; Bundeskunsthalle, Bonn; Kunst im Tunnel, Düsseldorf and Yves Klein Archive, Paris. Works by Wachholz are held in several public collections, including; Deji Art Museum, Nanjing; Marciano Art Foundation, Los Angeles and Frost Foundation, Santa Fe.

Thomas Wachholz – Tempo Primo
28 June - 24 August 2024 Wentrup"Tempo Primo" is Thomas Wachholz's second solo show with WENTRUP. The artist presents shaped canvases in the form of flames. These are painted monochromatically with red phosphorus and subsequently "activated" in a performative act by igniting matches on the surface.
