Nevin Aladag | Screen I-III: Kunst im öffentlichen Raum, Vienna
For artist Nevin Aladağ, screens are camouflage, screens, veils, protective barriers, grids, but also monitors and projection surfaces - in other words, hybrid elements that both obscure and protect, as well as reveal and depict. What is unique and particularly appealing about these mobile wall and architectural elements is that, due to their permeability, they both emphasize and complicate what they conceal. What lies behind the protective barrier is not erased, but remains visible and perceptible as a shadow, a silhouette, or an imprint. It is present, even if not recognizable in detail. It allows one to sense a presence, an appearance, a movement, without revealing them to the eye.
