Nevin Aladag | Color Floating: Biennale Bregaglia, Switzerland

In Color Floating, Nevin Aladag has translated the elements of ornamentation and collage central to her practice into colorful hosiery, draped over lamps reminiscent of Poul Henningsen’s iconic designs. The artworks illuminate the Maira River both literally and figuratively, bringing into focus the river that flows through the Bergell valley and gains strength in Vicosoprano as it is joined by the waters of the Albigna. Hydropower is a key economic sector for the Bergell, yet the waterways also repeatedly reveal their destructive side.
