A gathering, a summons, perhaps also a settling of scores; after us, there will be a horizon for the new birds—it darkens the gallery, covers its floor with sand, and fills its walls with hand-drawn visions of birds’ bodies in flight and at rest. The exhibition takes its title from the striking and optimistic closing line of Mahmoud Darwish’s poem “Here the Birds’ Journey Ends” (2008), used here as both an invocation and a declaration.
